We are a small artisanal ceramics workshop based in Málaga. At María Monasterio Ceramic Studio, we specialize in crafting tableware and decorative pieces. Depending on the design, we use a variety of techniques, including the potter’s wheel, hand modeling, slab building, or molds.

Here, you can shop for ceramics online quickly and effortlessly. Our work blends traditional pottery methods with modern, artistic designs, ensuring that the everyday objects you use are not only functional but also visually stunning.

Our designs are deeply inspired by nature, reflected in shapes, textures, and colors that evoke its beauty.

Additionally, we offer tools for ceramists, designed based on our hands-on experience and addressing gaps we’ve noticed in the market. Our aim is to create high-quality, practical tools that simplify and enhance the work done in the studio.

    Accidental

    This piece rests on a delicate balance: an open form supported by a minimal base, a thin wall that allows light to pass through, and a subtly gold-finished rim. Its presence is light yet steady, defined as much by what it reveals as by what it allows to be seen. The crack running through the piece emerged from an unforeseen accident. A small impact before firing caused an almost imperceptible fissure, which opened further during the kiln process. Rather than being corrected, this wound became part of the piece and ultimately defined it. Today, the form cannot be conceived without this opening. The crack reveals the fineness of the wall and disrupts the initial balance, incorporating chance as part of the process. The piece embraces error not as failure, but as transformation, reminding us that the unexpected also shapes identity.     The ‘broken plate’ has an irregular edge as if it had been broken, hence its name. It resembles a mountain range. It is a piece with presence and duality due to the contrast between the interior and exterior finishes. It has a glossy cream interior finish and a dark matt grey exterior. A modern and unique piece with beautiful green, grey and ochre spots on the edge due to variations in the thickness of the glaze. It is ideal for everyday use or for more special occasions.
